บทความวิจัยเรื่องนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสถานการณ์การค้าประเวณี รูปแบบและกระบวนการเข้าสู่การค้าประเวณีในพื้นที่อำเภอเมืองสุราษฎร์ธานี เพื่อหาแนวทางในการแก้ไขปัญหาการค้าประเวณีที่ปรากฏในพื้นที่อำเภอเมืองสุราษฎร์ธานี การวิจัยครั้งนี้ทำเชิงคุณภาพด้วยการวิจัยเอกสารและการเก็บข้อมูลด้วยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก (In-depth interview) เพื่อให้ได้ข้อมูลจากกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่แท้จริงจึงใช้การสุ่มตัวอย่างแบบลูกโซ่ (Snowball Sampling) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า
1. ในปีพ.ศ.2556-2560 สถานบริการทางเพศบางประเภทหายไปจากพื้นที่คือสำนักค้าประเวณี (ช่องปิด), สถานบริการประเภทอาบอบนวด, ผับและคอกเทลเลาจ์ และการขายบริการทางเพศแบบแอบแฝงที่ยังคงมีอยู่ คือ ร้านคาราโอเกะ, ร้านนวดแผนโบราณ/สปา และร้านอาหาร/สวนอาหาร อีกทั้งยังเกิดรูปแบบการให้บริการทางเพศแบบใหม่ คือ หญิงไซด์ไลน์ (Sideline)
2. รูปแบบการค้าประเวณีในพื้นที่มี 5 รูปแบบ คือ ซ่องเปิด, ร้านคาราโอเกะ, ร้านนวดแผนโบราณ/สปา และร้านอาหาร/สวนอาหารและหญิงไซด์ไลน์ (Sideline)
3. กระบวนการเข้าสู่การค้าประเวณีของหญิงขายบริการในพื้นที่มี 2 กระบวนการคือ 1. ผ่านการชักชวนจากคนใกล้ชิดที่กำลังทำ เคยทำหรือเป็นนายหน้าขายบริการทางเพศ 2. ผ่านช่องทางสื่อสารบนโลกออนไลน์ เช่น เฟซบุ๊ก (Facebook), ไลน์ (Line) และเว็บไซต์ (Website)

Abstract
This article aims to study the situation of prostitution. Patterns and processes into prostitution in Muang Surat Thani. To find solutions to the problem of prostitution in the area of Muang Surat Thani. This research was done by qualitative research, documenting and in-depth interview. In order to obtain data from the sample, the researcher used a random sampling method (Snowball Sampling).
1. In the year 2556-2060, some sex services have disappeared from the area of prostitution (closed box), massage parlors, pubs and cocktail lounges. And there are still hidden sex sales, karaoke bars, traditional massage parlors / spas. And restaurant / food garden In addition, there is a new form of sexual services, namely, Sideline,
2. There are 5 types of prostitution in the area: open bar, karaoke, traditional massage / spa. And Restaurant / Garden Restaurant and Sideline (Sideline)
3. The process of entering into prostitution of a prostitute in two areas is: 1. Through the persuasion of the close people who are doing. 2. Through online communication channels such as Facebook, Line and Website.
