การใช้ภาษาไทยในการบันทึกตำนาน : บทพินิจจากการศึกษาตำนานในเชิงโครงสร้างนิยม และจากการวิจัยภาคสนาม (The Use of the Thai Language in Documenting Tamnan : An Analysis of the Study of Tamnan in Structuralism and from Field Research)

Abstract

คำว่า “ตำนาน” มีการนำมาใช้ในหลายลักษณะ การบันทึกตำนานในสังคมไทยมีหลายรูปแบบ บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์หลัก 2 ประการ ประการแรก เป็นการนำตำนานประเภทตำนานปรัมปราในสังคมวัฒนธรรมไทยที่บันทึกไว้ในเอกสารต่างๆ ด้วยภาษาที่เป็นสัญลักษณ์มาวิเคราะห์โดยใช้วิธีการศึกษาแบบโครงสร้างนิยมของโคลด เลวี่ สเตราส์ พบว่า สารสำคัญที่บรรพชนไทยส่งสารผ่านตำนานปรัมปราเป็นเรื่องปมความขัดแย้งในการเลือกรับนับถือศาสนาระหว่างความเชื่อดั้งเดิมกับพุทธศาสนาประการหนึ่ง และเรื่องความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชนกลุ่มต่างๆ อีกประการหนึ่ง ประการหลัง เป็นการวิเคราะห์การใช้คำว่า “ตำนาน” ในลักษณะต่างๆ ที่บ้านหนองขาว จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ซึ่งเป็นหมู่บ้านที่มีการจัดการท่องเที่ยวเชิงวัฒนธรรม ผลการศึกษาทำให้เห็นว่า เรื่องราวจากทั้งประวัติศาสตร์ วรรณคดี ประวัติชีวิตบุคคล พุทธประวัติ สามารถรับรู้ในฐานะตำนานได้ และยังก่อให้เกิดตำนานและความเชื่ออื่นๆ ต่อไปได้อีก ทั้งยังสามารถสร้างตำนานขึ้นใหม่แล้วบันทึกและถ่ายทอดในรูปของการแสดงได้อีกด้วย การศึกษาทั้งสองประเด็นดังกล่าว สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความภูมิใจของคนไทยที่มีภาษาไทยในการบันทึกปมปัญหาขัดแย้งในใจของบรรพชนไทยส่งผ่านมาให้คนรุ่นหลังได้ล่วงรู้ และความภูมิใจของชาวบ้านที่มีตำนานต่างๆ บันทึกหรือถ่ายทอดอยู่ในชุมชน ทำให้ตนได้รับรู้หรือใช้ประโยชน์จากตำนานเหล่านั้น

The word “Tamnan,” is used in manifold contexts. There are numerous forms of documenting tamnan in Thai society. This article contains two major objectives. First, it aims to analyze myths as a kind of tamnans in Thai culture as recorded in symbolic language in various documents, using Claude Lévi-Strauss’ Structuralism. The findings show that the vital messages handed down by the Thai forefathers concern the conflict between indigenous beliefs and faith in Buddhism, and the relationship among different group of peoples. The latter objective is to analyze the use of the word “Tamnan” in different contexts in Ban Nong Khao, where cultural tourism has been promoted, in Kanchanaburi Province. The results of the study illustrate that historical accounts, literature, biographies, the life of Buddha can be acknowledged not only as tamnans but also as resources to generate other beliefs and new tamnans. Also, these tamnans can be recorded and passed on by performance. From the two results of the study, it can be seen firstly, that Thai people take pride in the Thai language which is used not only to record but also discern their ancestors’ inner cultural conflicts and secondly, that the villagers are gratified to learn and make use of those tamnans recorded and passed on in their own community.
