Abstract

บทความนี้นำเสนอว่า นักเขียนเรื่องสั้นหลายคนใฝ่ฝันถึงโลกพระศรีอาริย์แห่ง
ประชาธิปไตยไทย และมีจินตนาการถึงรูปสัญลักษณ์ของพาหนะที่จะนำพาเหล่าผู้คนเดินทาง
สู่โลกใหม่ในอุดมคติ พาหนะที่นำมาใช้เป็นสัญลักษณ์มากที่สุด คือ เรือ รองลงไป คือ รถโดยสาร
ยานวิเศษ และต้นไม้ ผู้เขียนศึกษาจากเรื่องสั้น 8 เรื่องที่เขียนในระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2514 – 2552
ซึ่งเกิดเหตุการณ์ทางการเมืองครั้งสำคัญหลายครั้ง เมื่อพิจารณาเหตุผลของการที่นักเขียน
ใช้สัญลักษณ์ในเรื่องสั้น พบว่า นอกจากจะเป็นกลวิธีทางวรรณศิลป์ที่สร้างนัยความหมาย
ระดับลึก ชวนให้ผู้อ่านตีความให้แตกแล้ว ยังสะท้อนให้เห็นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างวรรณกรรม
กับสังคม เพราะในบางช่วงเวลา บริบททางสังคมและการเมืองไม่เอื้ออำนวยต่อการแสดงเสรีภาพ
ทางความคิดของนักเขียน นักเขียนจึงใช้สัญลักษณ์อันเป็นกลวิธีแยบยลทางวรรณศิลป์
เป็นทางออกในการแสดงทัศนะทางการเมือง

This article presents the idea that many Thai writers dream of the Utopian
world of democracy and imagine the symbolic vehicles to take the people to
the new world. A “ship” is the symbolic vehicle which is mostly used, followed by a bus, a magic vehicle and a tree. The eight short stories written during 1971
– 2009 are studied. During which time political incidents occurred many times.
After considering the reasons for applying the symbols in these short stories, it
is found that symbols are the literary technique which invites the readers to
interpret the deep meaning. Besides, it is clear that literature has close
relationship with society. In some periods, the social and political contexts do
not allow the writers to speak freely. Therefore, symbol, the ingenious literary
device, is the way out to express their political ideas to the public
