สัมมาชีพกลางมวลมิตรสหาย “ไทย - ออส” : เครือข่ายทางสังคม ของแรงงานนักเรียนไทยในออสเตรเลีย (Working Among “Thai - Aus”: Social Networks of Thai Migrant Labourers in Australia)

Abstract

การย้ายถิ่นข้ามชาตินับเป็นหนึ่งในประเด็นศึกษาสำคัญแห่งยุคสมัย ปัจจุบัน
มีผู้คนกว่า 192 ล้านคน หรือประมาณร้อยละสามของประชากรโลกที่ทำงานในถิ่นฐาน
ที่ไม่ใช่แผ่นดินเกิดของตน ปรากฏการณ์นี้ทำให้เกิดการเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็วของการศึกษา
เรื่องการย้ายถิ่น อย่างไรก็ตาม การศึกษาดังกล่าวมักมุ่งที่จะศึกษาในเรื่องประสบการณ์
และภาคปฏิบัติของผู้ย้ายถิ่น ณ แผ่นดินปลายทาง แต่การศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพในครั้งนี้

ผู้วิจัยมุ่งหวังที่จะทำความเข้าใจถึงองค์ประกอบของเครือข่ายทางสังคมของแรงงานนักเรียนไทย
ในออสเตรเลีย และวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ภายในเครือข่ายดังกล่าว เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูล
โดยใช้การสัมภาษณ์ในการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกกับผู้ให้ข้อมูลสำคัญที่เป็นแรงงานนักเรียนไทย
ในออสเตรเลีย จำนวน 15 คน ซึ่งทำงานในนครซิดนีย์ ประเทศออสเตรเลีย คัดเลือกผู้ให้
ข้อมูลสำคัญด้วยวิธีบอกต่อ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยวิธีวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาโดยใช้โปรแกรม

ATLAS.ti ร่วมกับการวิเคราะห์เครือข่ายทางสังคม โดยใช้โปรแกรม Ucinet และ
Netdraw ผลการศึกษาชี้ว่า เครือข่ายทางสังคมของแรงงานนักเรียนไทย - ออส เป็นเครือข่าย
แบบไม่เป็นทางการ กระบวนการในการสร้างเครือข่ายทางสังคมดังกล่าวเริ่มจากการใช้
ความสัมพันธ์ส่วนตัวและการมีประสบการณ์ร่วม การขยายตัวของเครือข่ายทางสังคมเป็น
แนวราบผ่านปฏิสัมพันธ์เชิงแลกเปลี่ยน ความสัมพันธ์ภายในเครือข่ายทางสังคมมีลักษณะ
เป็นความสัมพันธ์เชิงซ้อน แม้จะมีจุดมุ่งหมายร่วมกัน ความสัมพันธ์ดังกล่าวตั้งอยู่บน
พื้นฐานของการแลกเปลี่ยนผลประโยชน์เป็นหลัก นอกจากนี้ ความสัมพันธ์ในเชิงการ
ร่วมมือและการแข่งขัน ตลอดจนระยะเวลาของความสัมพันธ์ล้วนวางอยู่บนฐานของความ
สัมพันธ์ส่วนตัวของแรงงานนักเรียนไทย - ออส ในเครือข่ายทางสังคมนี้

International labour migration is one of the major issues of our time.
Nowadays around 192 million people work outside their country of birth, about
three percent of the world's population. This rapidly increasing phenomenon is
examined in a large number of studies on migration. However, most of these
studies focus on experiences and practicalities of migrants at the place of
destination. In this study, I provided insight into the other side of the migration
coined by investigating the background and relationship in the network of specific
migrant labourer in the name of “Thai - Aus Student - Labourers” who study
and work in Australia. I aimed to contribute to the understanding of the social
network composition of Thai student migrant labourers in Australia and to
analyze relationships within this network. Data were collected via in - depth
interviews with 15 key informants as Thai labourers-“Thai - Aus” who are
working in Sydney, Australia. Data analysis was contents analysis by the
program of ATLAS.ti and social network analysis by the program of Ucinet and
Netdraw. The results of the study indicated that social network of “Thai - Aus
Student - Labourers” was informal. The process of social network construction started with personal relationships and common experiences. The network was

extended horizontally through an exchange of interactions within a stable
boundary. The characteristics of the relationship in network as multi - relations
on common goal, base on benefit exchange. Moreover cooperation and
competition relation, and the duration of relationship was based on personal
relations.
