พินิจ “เพลโต ซิมโพเซียม” (Review “Plato’s Symposium”)

Abstract

วรรณคดีของปราชญ์และศาสดาเยี่ยงที่ กิ่งแก้ว อัตถากร กล่าว เหมือนดัง
พระอาทิตย์ พระจันทร์ ที่ส่องแสงสว่างให้แก่หนทางเดินของเรา เป็นทั้งธรรมะและปรัชญา
ที่ส่งต่อกันมาแต่อนันตกาล นำพาจิตให้เกิดความรู้ ความงามและความสุข วรรณคดีตะวันตก
เรื่อง “ซิมโพเซียม” เป็นงานประพันธ์ชั้นเอกฉบับหนึ่งของเพลโตควบคู่กับ “รีพับลิก”
“วันสุดท้ายของโสคราตีส” เป็นต้น เสน่ห์ของวรรณคดีเรื่องนี้ไม่เพียงอยู่ที่มุมมองทัศนะ
ที่ไม่ซํ้าใครเกี่ยวกับความรักระหว่างบุคคลเพศเดียวกัน ทว่ายังสะท้อนมาจากลีลา
การเขียนการดำเนินเรื่องในรูปแบบการสนทนา และเทคนิคการซักไซ้ไล่เลียงที่สมบูรณ์
และน่าพิสมัยอย่างยิ่ง ถ้าแม้นว่าสรรพชีวิตเลือกสรรวิธีการให้กำเนิดเพื่อที่ตนเองจะบรรลุ
ความเป็นอมตะด้วยการทิ้งคุณสมบัติต่าง ๆ ไว้ให้กับรุ่นใหม่ฉันใด การที่เพลโตให้กำเนิด
“ซิมโพเซียม” ก็ช่วยให้ชื่อนามของเขาบันลือปฐพีโลกตลอดระยะเวลา 2,500 ปีที่ผ่านมา
ฉันนั้น ผู้เขียนจึงมุ่งพินิจสุนทรพจน์เจ็ดรายการใน “ซิมโพเซียม” กับทั้งตั้งข้อสังเกตสอง
ประการจากการอ่านวรรณคดีเอกเรื่องนี้ ประกอบด้วย ลักษณะการสนทนาใน “ซิมโพเซียม”
และงานประพันธ์ของเพลโตโดยภาพรวม กับทั้งการปรากฏตัวของดิโอทิมาในสุนทรพจน์
ของโสคราตีส ด้วยหวังจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อผู้สนใจวรรณคดีตะวันตก ตลอดจนทำให้เพลโต
และ “ซิมโพเซียม” ดำรงอยู่ควบคู่กับโลกาไปอีกนานเท่านาน

The occidental literature titled “Symposium” is a Plato’s masterpiece,
giving consideration to “Republic”, “The last days of Socrates”,etc. It is the
literature of pundit and prophet, which Kingkaew Attagara said that it can be
compared with the sun and the moon illuminating brightness to our paths. It is
both the dhama and philosophy, transmitted from primordial time. It conducts
reader to epistemic mind, beauty and happiness. This glamorous literature is
not only persuading readers to the different views toward homosexuality, but
also reflecting the art form of writing, procedure of composing story by applying
techniques of conversation, the perfect and affectionate questioning method.
If all living things can select their birth that is able to bring them to immortal
lives, and transfer their characteristics to their posterity, then it can be said that
the composing “Symposium” by Plato can make his reputation exist all over the
world at least 2,500 years ago. It is the purpose of the article to review seven
speeches in “Symposium”, to remark the characteristics of the conversation in
“Symposium”, to look over all of Plato’s writing, including the appearance of
Diotima in Socrates’s speech. It is hoped that one who is interested in occidental
literature would get advantage from reading the article, and the last but not
least, Plato and “Symposium” would be magnificent all over the world eternally.
