อดีต ปัจจุบัน อนาคต คลองท่าทองใหม่ : มุมมองเรื่องความเข้มแข็งของชุมชน (Past, Present and Future of Ta Thong Mai Canal : Community Strength Aspect)

Abstract

คลองท่าทองใหม่เป็นคลองสายหนึ่งที่ไหลผ่านพื้นที่อำเภอกาญจนดิษฐ์และ
อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี คลองนี้ได้รับผลกระทบจากการเติบโตและพัฒนา
ของชุมชนเช่นเดียวกับคลองอื่น ๆ ในประเทศไทย ในทศวรรษที่ผ่านมาความเสื่อมโทรม
ของคลองสายนี้มีเพิ่มขึ้นและมีแนวโน้มว่าจะส่งผลกระทบอย่างรุนแรงต่อชุมชนในอนาคต
ในอดีตเป็นคลองที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ด้วยสัตว์นํ้านานาชนิด สองฟากฝั่งคลองมีป่าไม้หนาแน่น
คลองท่าทองใหม่เป็นประโยชน์อย่างยิ่งในการดำรงชีวิตอยู่ ผู้คนใช้ชีวิตอยู่กับธรรมชาติ
อนั อดุ มสมบรู ณ ์ การดำเนินชีวิตเป็นไปอย่างเรียบง่าย มีความโอบอ้อมอารีเอื้อเฟื้อเผื่อแผ่
ต่อกัน และผูกพันกับธรรมชาติ แต่ปัจจุบันวิถีชีวิตของผู้คนเปลี่ยนแปลงจากอดีต เนื่องจาก
ผลกระทบจากการพัฒนาประเทศตามแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจและสังคมแห่งชาติ ชาวบ้าน
ต้องประสบกับปัญหาต่าง ๆ มากมาย คลองท่าทองใหม่อันเป็นแหล่งอาหาร และเส้นทาง
คมนาคมมีบทบาทลดลง ส่งผลกระทบต่อความเป็นอยู่ของชาวบ้านในชุมชนอย่าง
กว้างขวาง และมีแนวโน้มเพิ่มขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว แม้ชาวบ้านจะพยายามรวมตัวกันแก้ปัญหา
ก็ไม่ประสบผลสำเร็จเท่าที่ควร จากชุมชนที่มีความเข้มแข็งยืนหยัดอยู่บนลำแข้ง

ของตัวเอง กลับต้องพึ่งพาภายนอกมากขึ้น ส่งผลให้ชุมชนอ่อนแอลง และไม่สามารถช่วย
ตนเองได้ดังก่อนมา จึงเป็นที่คาดเดาได้ว่าในอนาคตปัญหาต่าง ๆ จะพอกพูนขึ้นและเป็นที่
แน่นอนว่าความเข้มแข็งของชุมชนก็จะถูกลดทอนลงตามลำดับ

Ta Thong Mai Canal is a canal flowing through the area of
Kanchanadit and Mueang districts, Surat Thani province. The canal
has been affected by communities’ growth and development like
other canals in Thailand. From the past decade, the canal was deteriorate
gradually and likely to affect the communities severely in the future.
In the past, this canal was filled with a variety of fish and aquatic life
and its banks were full of dense woods. The canal was useful to
people’s living. They lived peacefully, happily and modestly in the
plentiful nature with humble life. People were generous and help
each other and attached themselves to nature. However, at the present
time, people’s living has changed due to the country development
under the National Economic and Social Development Plan. The
local people have faced various problems while the importance of
Ta Thong Mai Canal, as the food source and waterway
transportation, has been diminished. This problem affected the
livelihood of communities’ people extensively and got worse rapidly.
Even they tried to assemble and find a solution, they did not succeed 

as expected. The community strength once depended on their own
feet turns to count on more external factors. Therefore, the communities
are weaken and cannot help themselves as in the past. It can be
expected that more problems increase and it is certain that the
community strength will be waned subsequently.
