Abstract

คติ ไตรภูมิในพระพุทธศาสนามีอิทธิพลอย่างยิ่งต่อความเชื่อทางศาสนา ศิลปะ วัฒนธรรม และทัศนคติทางสังคมและจริยธรรมของคนไทย อิทธิพลสำคัญจากคติไตรภูมิคือความเชื่อเรื่องบาปบุญ การเวียนว่ายตายเกิดใน ๓ ภพภูมิ การหลุดพ้นจากสงสารวัฏด้วยการเข้าถึงพระนิพพาน ความเชื่อเหล่านี้คือแก่นธรรมของพระพุทธศาสนา วรรณคดีเรื่องไตรภูมิกถาพระราชนิพนธ์ของพระมหาธรรมราชาลิไทนำเสนอความคิด เหล่านี้อย่างชัดเจน สร้างความศรัทธาแก่พุทธศาสนิกชนอย่างแน่นแฟ้นตลอดมา นอกจากนี้ จินตนาการมหัศจรรย์ของกวีโบราณที่สร้างสรรค์เพื่ออธิบายและสนับสนุนความ เชื่อเกี่ยวกับอายุของโลก การสิ้นโลก-การสร้างโลก ภูมิศาสตร์จักรวาล นรก-สวรรค์ เทพยดา ป่าหิมพานต์ และสัตว์หิมพานต์ ทำให้จดจำ อ้างถึง สืบทอด และสืบสร้าง ในวรรณคดีเรื่องต่างๆ ประเภทต่างๆ สมัยต่างๆ ต่อมาจนถึงปัจจุบัน

The Trai Bhum beliefs in Buddhism have powerful influences on the
religious consciousness of the Thai, on their literary and artistic development and on their social and ethic attitudes.The beliefs in sins and merits, the circle of impermanence, the desirable goal of Nibbana are presented clearly in the Trai Bhumikatha of King Lithai and make strongly faith in Thai Buddhists from the beginning. Besides, the fascinating imaginations of the Buddhist cosmology, the world creation and destruction, the paradise and inferno, the devine gods, the Himavan forests and Himavan creators are remembered, referred, perpetuated, recreated and persisted in the various genres and various periods of Thai literary works to the present days.
